Comments Killed

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

Not that anyone has tried to post any real comments as of yet. However last night some one decided it would be really clever to post advets to illicit web sites. I have killed the comments until I can implement a way to sto this from happening.

Tardieu - Laurent, Chateauneuf-Du-Pape, 1999

OK, this was not a new wine and I did not take notes as I drank it (as I should). I opened it as a celebration of the fact that I have aquired a new job. Both myself and my girlfriend were worried that it would not live up to our memories of the wine, which may well have miss-represented it. We were quite wrong. It is a fantastic wine. A beautify nose, a balence of bitterness, fruit and tanin that is just superb. Just the wine to celebrate any occasion.

Cuvee Sommeliere, Chateau de Flaugergues, 2003

This wine was recomended to us by one of the assistants at Magestic (given what he had seen of our purchase). As you might expect if you have read most of the wines I have drunk this was a dark wine. It is a combination of Grenache (20%), Syrah (40%) and Mourvedre (40%). As I have stated this was a dark wine. There was a strong smell of fruit on the nose, mosly cherries. It did not seem heavy on the alcohol, but it was quite tannic, leaving a strong effect on the sides of the mouth. There was also an odd fizz on the front of the tounge. It was lighted than I was expecting and both sweet and sharp. All in all not a bd wine, but also nothiong to write home about.

Fuligni, Brunello Di Montalcino (1999)

Friday, March 10th, 2006

This is one of the more pricey wines in my collection (or was). It retails at about #30 a bottle. A friend (who is a serious wine drinker) recomended this wine based on a discussion we had about Barolo.
