Roast….


Jules in her wisdom talked 5 of us into meeting at Roast.

We all got our glad rags on and arrived by 6:10 (for a 7:30 meal). That gave us more than enough time to sample their long cocktail list. The cocktails were all superb from Wonx’s Gibson to more exotic Cinful something or other (Cinnamon, ginger bear, almond brandy….) After a couple of coctails each we came to our senses and realised that we should approach the table to eat before we lost use of our legs.

Wonx talked us into an oyster to start the meal. This was of course not enough for Kate, who went on to order 6 more. A bottle of New Zealand Pinor and a bottle of Argentinian Malbec help the fantastic food down. While most of us opted for the mutton shank, which just fell of the bone and burst with flavor, Wonx’s Liver was beautify cooked and Judith’s Game pudding was probably the winning choice.

The the universe took an about turn, for it was the mane and not the women who seemed to have pudding space left. After coffee we adorned to the bar for a final cocktail before bed.

All in all a fantastic night of drink and food shared by great friends. I must try to do this more often.
